Handyman Materials and Supplies: You Choose, We Install

Pay Store Prices With No Material Markups

Earth Care Rent A Tech believes homeowners should control what goes into their homes.

Our standard home-repair quotes cover the agreed labor and scope of work. Material costs are generally kept separate so you can choose the brand, quality, appearance and price that fit your home and budget.

We do not lock you into one manufacturer, force you to purchase materials from us or add a contractor markup to ordinary big-box-store products.

You pay the actual price of the materials. If you need help getting them, an Earth Care Pro can pick up approved materials from the store without an additional pickup charge. You simply cover the cost of the products.

Your home. Your materials. Your warranties. Your choice.

[BUILD MY HOME-REPAIR QUOTE]

Are Materials Included in an Earth Care Quote?

Unless your written quote specifically says otherwise, Earth Care’s quoted price covers labor rather than the cost of materials.

Keeping labor and materials separate makes the quote easier to understand:

  • You know what you are paying for labor

  • You see what the products actually cost

  • You decide where the materials are purchased

  • You choose the brand and quality

  • You avoid hidden contractor markups

  • You keep applicable product warranties in your name

Your itemized project quote should identify the work being performed and may also help identify the materials needed to complete it.

Why Doesn’t Earth Care Automatically Include Materials?

Material prices can vary enormously based on brand, appearance, capacity, durability and personal preference.

A faucet might cost $30 or $300. A water heater may vary based on size, energy source, efficiency, warranty and manufacturer. Flooring, lumber, tile, paint and fixtures can have equally large price differences.

We do not believe a contractor should make those decisions for you without your involvement.

Keeping materials separate allows you to decide whether you want:

  • A budget-friendly product

  • A mid-range product

  • A premium product

  • A particular brand

  • A specific color or finish

  • A longer manufacturer’s warranty

  • A product already used elsewhere in your home

  • Materials purchased from your preferred retailer

Earth Care provides the labor. You maintain control over the products installed in your property.

Choose Your Own Fit and Finish

Home repairs are not only technical decisions. They also affect how your home looks and feels.

You may want to choose:

  • Faucet style and finish

  • Cabinet hardware

  • Tile color and pattern

  • Flooring thickness and appearance

  • Paint brand and color

  • Light-fixture design

  • Ceiling-fan size and style

  • Door and trim materials

  • Appliance brand

  • Water-heater capacity

  • Lumber grade

  • Countertop finish

  • Bathroom fixtures

  • Shelving materials

Earth Care does not restrict you to a preset product catalog. You can select materials from the store or supplier that offers the combination of price, appearance and quality you prefer.

No Big-Box-Store Material Markups

Some contractors purchase products from a home-improvement store and then add a percentage before charging the customer.

Earth Care does not believe a common store product should suddenly cost more simply because a service professional carried it to your home.

When materials are purchased for your project, you are responsible for the actual material cost—not an inflated resale price.

This means a $500 water heater remains a $500 water heater instead of becoming a $650 product after an unexplained contractor markup.

Our goal is straightforward pricing:

  • Labor is priced as labor

  • Materials are priced as materials

  • Customers can review the receipt

  • No hidden percentage is added to ordinary store purchases

Keep Product Warranties in Your Name

Customer-controlled purchasing helps keep applicable product receipts and manufacturer warranties connected to the homeowner.

This can make it easier to:

  • Register the product

  • Retain the original receipt

  • Submit a manufacturer warranty claim

  • Request replacement parts

  • Return an eligible product

  • Contact the retailer

  • Document the purchase date

  • Prove ownership

If a fixture, appliance or product stops working later, you should not have to locate a contractor simply to access your receipt or warranty information.

The product belongs to you, so the applicable purchase records and warranties should remain available to you.

Three Ways to Handle Materials

Option 1: Supply the Materials Yourself

You can purchase the products before the appointment and have them ready when the pro arrives.

This option provides maximum control and allows you to shop online, compare stores, use coupons or select products in person.

Option 2: Choose the Materials and Let Us Pick Them Up

Select and pay for the materials through your preferred store. An Earth Care Pro can pick up the approved order and bring it to the project without a separate material-pickup charge.

This can be useful for:

  • Water heaters

  • Lumber

  • Drywall

  • Flooring

  • Tile

  • Paint

  • Plumbing fixtures

  • Electrical fixtures

  • Doors

  • Appliances

  • Hardware

  • Landscaping supplies

You remain responsible for the cost of the materials.

Option 3: Ask for Help Choosing

If you are unsure what to purchase, explain the project and ask for guidance.

The pro or quote process may help identify:

  • Product type

  • General dimensions

  • Quantity

  • Compatibility

  • Recommended capacity

  • Necessary fittings

  • Supporting supplies

  • Appropriate product category

You still make the final purchasing decision and choose the price, brand and finish.

Free Material Pickup

Large or heavy products can be difficult for homeowners to transport.

When arranged as part of the project, an Earth Care Pro may pick up approved materials from a nearby store without a separate pickup surcharge.

Examples include:

  • A new water heater

  • Sheets of drywall

  • Lumber

  • Flooring

  • Tile

  • Doors

  • Paint

  • Plumbing fixtures

  • Bathroom vanities

  • Shelving

  • Large boxed products

The customer covers the store’s price for the materials. The pro helps get the approved products to the project.

For the smoothest pickup:

  1. Confirm the required product and measurements.

  2. Purchase the order in your name.

  3. Select the appropriate store location.

  4. Authorize the designated pickup person when required.

  5. Save the receipt and warranty information.

  6. Provide the order number and pickup instructions.

Use Store Discounts and Customer Rewards

Because you control the purchase, you may be able to use:

  • Store coupons

  • Credit-card rewards

  • Retailer loyalty points

  • Military discounts

  • Seasonal promotions

  • Clearance pricing

  • Manufacturer rebates

  • Gift cards

  • Price matching

  • Special financing

  • Tax-exempt documentation when applicable

A contractor markup can erase those savings. Earth Care’s approach allows the homeowner to benefit from the available store price and applicable discounts.

Better Material Control Creates Better Quotes

Separating labor from materials helps make home-repair quotes easier to compare.

If one contractor combines labor, products and markup into a single unexplained total, it can be difficult to determine whether the price is competitive.

Earth Care’s itemized approach allows you to compare:

  • Labor price

  • Material price

  • Material quality

  • Product warranty

  • Project scope

  • Expected completion time

You can take the same written scope and material list to another provider and ask for a comparable price.

Avoid Paying Premium Prices for Budget Materials

A high project price does not always mean premium products are being installed.

Without transparency, a customer may pay a premium total while receiving basic materials.

Choosing the products yourself allows you to verify exactly what is entering your home. You can see the manufacturer, model, specifications, price and warranty before installation.

You decide whether to save money or upgrade the finish.

Materials for Water-Heater Installation

If you need a new water heater, you can choose the manufacturer, tank size, fuel or energy type, efficiency level and warranty.

After compatibility and project requirements are confirmed, you may purchase the water heater directly from the retailer. A pro may then pick it up and bring it to the installation location.

The cost of the water heater and associated materials remains the customer’s responsibility. Earth Care’s quote covers the agreed labor unless the written quote states otherwise.

Materials for Lumber and Carpentry Projects

For decks, framing, shelving, trim and other carpentry work, material choices can affect both cost and longevity.

You may choose among:

  • Pressure-treated lumber

  • Standard dimensional lumber

  • Hardwood

  • Plywood

  • Composite materials

  • Premium exterior products

  • Different lumber grades

  • Various trim profiles

Your pro can help identify the dimensions and quantities required, while you retain control over the product and budget.

What Happens if the Wrong Material Is Purchased?

Confirm product compatibility, measurements and quantity before installation whenever possible.

If you purchase a product that does not fit the project, it may need to be exchanged before work can continue. Keeping the receipt and purchasing in your name makes returns or exchanges easier.

If a pro is helping create the material list, provide accurate photographs, measurements and product information.

Our Commitment to Better Value

Earth Care’s material policy is built around customer value and autonomy.

We believe homeowners should be able to:

  • See the real cost of products

  • Choose the quality they can afford

  • Select the appearance they want

  • Avoid unnecessary material markups

  • Keep their receipts

  • Control applicable manufacturer warranties

  • Compare products and stores

  • Request free pickup assistance

  • Understand what is labor and what is material

You should not lose control over your project simply because you hired someone to perform the work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are materials included in Earth Care’s labor quotes?

Materials are generally not included unless the written quote specifically identifies them as included. The customer is responsible for the cost of the products and supplies required for the project.

Why are materials priced separately?

Separate pricing gives customers more control and makes it easier to understand the difference between labor costs and product costs.

It also allows customers to choose their preferred brand, quality, style and retailer.

Does Earth Care mark up materials?

Earth Care does not add a contractor percentage to ordinary big-box-store materials purchased for your project. Customers pay the actual material cost.

Can I purchase all the materials myself?

Yes. You may select and purchase the required products before the appointment.

Keep the receipts, packaging and applicable warranty information.

Can a pro pick up the materials for me?

Yes. When properly arranged, a pro may pick up approved materials from a nearby retailer without an additional pickup charge. You are responsible for purchasing or reimbursing the actual cost of the materials.

Can a pro pick up a water heater?

Yes, provided the pickup has been arranged, the product is compatible with the project and the professional has suitable transportation.

Can a pro pick up lumber or drywall?

Yes. Lumber, drywall and similar building products may be picked up when the order, quantity, store location and transportation requirements have been confirmed.

Who chooses the brand?

The homeowner chooses the brand. A pro may offer general guidance about compatibility or project requirements, but Earth Care does not lock customers into one manufacturer.

Who chooses the color and finish?

The homeowner makes the final decision about colors, finishes, styles and other appearance-related options.

Can the pro tell me what to buy?

A pro may help identify the product category, dimensions, quantity or compatibility requirements. The homeowner makes the final purchasing decision.

Who keeps the material receipt?

The homeowner should retain the original receipt, order confirmation and applicable manufacturer warranty information.

Who owns the manufacturer’s warranty?

When the material is purchased in the homeowner’s name, the homeowner can retain the purchase records and register applicable manufacturer warranties in their name.

What if I want premium materials?

You may select premium products if they are compatible with the project. You control whether the project uses budget, standard or premium materials.

What if I want the least expensive option?

You may choose an affordable product that meets the project’s requirements. The ability to select lower-priced materials is one reason Earth Care separates material costs from labor.

Can I use store coupons or rewards?

Yes. Because the materials are purchased for you rather than resold at a marked-up price, you may use eligible coupons, discounts, rewards or financing offered by the retailer.

Are small supplies included?

Review your written quote to determine how fasteners, adhesives, fittings, disposable supplies and other small items are handled. Material treatment can vary by project.

How do I get an itemized quote?

Use Earth Care’s AI quote tool to describe your project. The system can help organize the scope, recommend a labor package and identify information needed before booking.
